If you can crochet a flat circle, you can make a hat as you’re already halfway there! =) It sounds as though you already know how to do the flat part (working two stitches in one to increase the digit of stitches).

To curve the fabric to make the hat shape simply work nearly without making any increases.

Here’s a link to a cute small hat to give you the thought:

here is a free pattern that can help you make the hat. dont agonize its very simple just

    HAT
    With A, chain 2.
Round 1: Work 6 release crochet in 2nd chain from hook, place marker for beginning of round – 6 stitches.

Round 2: (Release crochet in next stitch, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 3 times – 9 stitches.

Round 3: (Release crochet in each of next 2 stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 3 times – 12 stitches.

Round 4: (Release crochet in each of next 2 stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 4 times – 16 stitches.

Round 5: (Release crochet in each of next 3 stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 4 times – 20 stitches.

Round 6: (Release crochet in each of next 4 stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 4 times – 24 stitches.

Repeat Round 6, working one more release crochet linking increases on each round, in anticipation of there are 36 (40, 44) stitches.

    Work 1 round even.

Next Round: (Release crochet in each of next 8 (9, 10) stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 4 times – 40 (44, 48) stitches.

    Work 1 (2, 2) rounds even.

Next Round: (Release crochet in each of next 9 (10, 11) stitches, 2 release crochet in next stitch) 4 times – 44 (48, 52) stitches.

Work 3 (4, 4) rounds even. Shut off

email me if you have any questions about this pattern.

t’s not a spiral. You want an very nearly flat circle. You make increases on your rounds to get that shape. There are hundreds of patterns available on the net… google is your friend.

Before you attempt a hat, I reckon you should make some flat circles, and other things to learn some basic stitches. It’s simple to do — when you know how. But you have to learn a few basic things first before you can do shapes.
