@melissajanern The first shell you make, the chain-3 at the beginning counts as a double crochet. You should have 4 shells of 3 double crochet each including that chain-3.

great tutorial, i almost got it!! mucked up a bit at the start so it kind of looks more like a granny circle than square, gonna do it again now….thanks for posting these vids, they are great!!

this is the ONLY tutorial where I could actually see what stitch to join into!
Thanks for the effort you put it. Also in some of the tutorials the woman’s hands looked like a spider spinning a web, creeped me out. Thankfully your hands don’t creep me out.

Your videos are truly the best! I couldnt be more greatful for them! I plan on learning everything you have to offer on crocheting. I was very pleased with finding such a great tutorial on the granny square! I recently took classed at Joann Fabrics and the teacher was a little hard to understand. Even in a class! Love your videos! Thanks so much. P.S. It’s like sitting with you learning, so easy to understand and your videos are not shakey. Wonderful, thanks so much!

When I do the double crochet part, I end up with a HUGE hole. Did I do something wrong? I made a granny square afghan about 30 years ago, and now I’m trying to relearn.
